General Notes

  • Start date flexible. It is possible to apply and to start year around, subject to approval by the Training Center.
  • Applying 1 to 2.5 years in advance for future years is recommended. For those who already have raised support or are self-supporting, late applications with less lead time can still be considered.
  • Open to single men or women, couples, or families. 
  • Roles are not based on or limited by gender.
  • Bible school/seminary helpful but not required if one has other informal preparation. 
  • Four-year programs for those who do not yet speak Japanese or 2 year programs for Japanese speakers are standard. Longer terms also available. Certificate can be achieved in 4 years. For some, 5-6 years before relocating to lead a church plant elsewhere can be preferable.
  • Learn Japanese, rural Japan ministry, and do active ministry simultaneously throughout the program to achieve a good base of skill and experience by the end of your term.
