About the Reaching Japan Together Associaiton

What is RJTA?

The Reaching Japan Together Association (RJTA) offers broad in-country services specifically for Japan missionaries. RJTA relies on partnerships with Reaching Japan Together (RJT) and other sending entities and local churches for members' "home country" functions, for example, donation processing and the home country side of visa sponsorship.

RJTA and its members partner with local ministries (or in the case of those with experience, may lead a local ministry) so RJTA members may serve with almost any local ministry in Japan, not just RJTA-led ministries. RJTA facilitates the decoupling of sending, receiving, and local host ministry functions so those functions can be combined for maximum flexibility.

RJTA is international, making it a great option for those wanting to see international teams facilitated even if team members serve with different sending entities!

RJT relies on RJTA for the screening of applicants, member care, and all on-field functions.

Our Vision and Mission

RJTA Vision Statement

Helping missionaries thrive as they fulfill the Great Commission by responsibly reaching out with the gospel to the unreached and under-reached in accordance with the unique callings, gifting, and visions the Spirit gives to them.

RJTA Mission Statement

Decoupling sending, mobilization, in-country receiving (Japan-wide functions), and local/host ministry functions and via a receiver (RJTA) facilitating countless re-combinations thereof within the framework of joint core values.

This maximizes freedom and diversity for members to follow their God-given missions ministry visions, yet without sacrificing the Japan field-level interconnection, support, collaboration opportunities, mobilization potential, and accountability relevant to all members and while well addressing the additional needs for guidance and support of those in their first four-year term.

RJTA Scope

Facilitating those whose guiding purpose and priority in Japan is reaching out cross-culturally to the unreached/under-reached with the gospel of Jesus, whether as supported or "tent-maker" (self-supporting) missionaries or a combination thereof.

RJTA seeks to help missionaries in Japan get started or continue, survive, and thrive as they serve God diligently in a difficult place. We seek to come alongside and, as we are able, help connect, equip, encourage, facilitate, and empower members as they seek to live as salt and light and faithful followers of Jesus Christ and responsibly serve Him as missionaries in Japan in accordance with how He has uniquely called and gifted them.

Each member is responsible for raising sufficient support or securing sufficient tent-making support. This is not a foreign job placement service nor an all-ministry alliance.

Beliefs

Statement of Faith

We are broadly inter-denominational across the non-charismatic and charismatic, evangelical, reformed, mainline, and non-denominational Christian heritages, valuing unity in core essentials (the Bible as the word of God, Jesus as the only way of salvation, the tenets of the Apostles' creed, and the importance of living a Biblical lifestyle) and charity with regard to different understandings about non-essentials.
